Mediterra® Welcomes McGarvey Custom Homes

NAPLES, Fla. (Dec. 13, 2002) – McGarvey Custom Homes has joined the list of participating single-family homebuilders at Mediterra, the 1,697-acre master-planned community being developed by The Bonita Bay Group™ in North Naples. McGarvey Custom Homes is also a participating builder at two of the company’s other master-planned communities – The Estates at TwinEagles™ and Shadow Wood® in The Brooks®.

“We have been extremely pleased with the exceptional quality and customer service that McGarvey Custom Homes has consistently demonstrated at The Estates at TwinEagles,” said Susan Hebel Watts, vice president of The Bonita Bay Group and general manager of Mediterra and The Estates at TwinEagles. “The company is well known for its commitment to excellence and we welcome them to Mediterra.”

Led by President John McGarvey, McGarvey Custom Homes has been building high-end custom homes in the Southwest Florida area since 1996. Prior to relocating to Southwest Florida, the homebuilder was based in southern New Jersey for more than two decades. “Mediterra is an ideal fit with our corporate goal of building custom homes in the best communities in Southwest Florida,” said Dan Gerner, McGarvey’s executive vice president. “It is a beautiful community with phenomenal amenities and a tremendous growth rate.” The first McGarvey Custom Homes’ model in Mediterra is scheduled to break ground in the first quarter of 2003 with the opening planned for the following season.

McGarvey Custom Homes joins nine other participating single-family homebuilders at Mediterra: Boran Craig Barber Homes Inc.; Frey & Son Homes Inc.; Gulfshore Homes; Harbourside Custom Homes; Harwick Homes Construction Inc.; Hunt Construction Co. Inc.; Kurtz Homes Inc.; Landmark Development Group; and London Bay Homes. In addition, R & D Companies and Landmark Development build villa homes, and Taylor Woodrow Communities builds coach homes at Mediterra. Each participating builder has successfully completed The Bonita Bay Group’s approval process, which includes demonstrating quality work, delivering the highest level of customer service and committing to create homes consistent with the company’s principles of environmentally sensitive development.

The Bonita Bay Group is developing Mediterra with the same commitment to meticulous planning, environmental stewardship, integrity and attention to detail that is evident at its flagship community, Bonita Bay®. Bonita Bay received the development industry’s highest international honor when it was named the Outstanding Large-Scale Community of the Year by the Urban Land Institute.

Honored by the Collier Building Industry Association as the 2002 Community of the Year, Mediterra is being created with the intimacy, charm and classical style of the Mediterranean region of Europe. The overall master plan for the 1,697-acre community includes less than 950 residences and more than 1,000 acres of open space. Residents are eligible for membership in The Club at Mediterra, which offers two Tom Fazio-designed championship golf courses, a 25,000-square-foot clubhouse and the first five courts of the ten-court tennis complex.

The Sports Club, a tennis, swim and fitness center, opened this fall. A private Beach Club with pool on the Gulf of Mexico is under construction and on schedule to debut in January 2003. In addition, residents enjoy Parque Celestial, the first of six themed neighborhood parks and miles of bicycle paths and nature trails.

Mediterra Realty is now offering homesites from $450,000, coach homes from $500,000, villas from $650,000 and single-family homes from $1.85 million to more than $5 million. Residential offerings currently include nine single-family manor neighborhoods with oversized homesites, four luxury villa neighborhoods and one coach home neighborhood.
